The Rise of the Regions? Are regional operations innovating and diversifying to attract consumers more than city centres?

As we move out of lockdown life and thinking, businesses and consumers are understanding that change has and will continue to take place and seem to be getting more confident in embracing it. We often hear the term "pent up demand" and there is an understandable desire and more confidence from consumers to restart embracing being out and enjoying socialising again. But where are they and businesses going and why?

City centres continue to struggle to attract crowds to their operations and it is understandable as without many city centre offices not currently being much over 11% in occupancy levels and tourism not being anywhere close to what it was, city centres have a struggle ahead to re-imagine their offer and make themselves a destination to visit. The regions however seem to be innovating readily and attracting much attention, both from the consumer but also from city centre businesses who are looking to innovate and diversify in the regions .

One such example has taken root in the heart of the Brighton Lanes. Socialite Restaurant, Bar & Roof Terrace is the latest addition to the thriving Brighton Food Scene. Recognised for its variety of eateries, sophisticated locals and visitors alike, Brighton made an attractive destination to open a new luxury dining experience. Launched by Paragon Hospitality, the new luxury operation features a 90-cover restaurant, bar and roof terrace and boasts three private dining rooms.

Executive Head Chef Alex Puddifoot heads up the kitchen at Socialite after moving from London where he opened The ME London, STK London, Radio Rooftop, Asellina and STK Ibiza. The menu focuses heavily on seasonality, ethical sourcing and the freshest local ingredients with a Brighton touch.
