The Launch of the International Charter Event on Tuesday 21st November 2023

On the 21st of November, we are delighted to be hosting an event to support the launch of a global campaign and Charter to ensure that all those who live and work on the great tea plantations across the world are fairly paid and supported, possess decent working conditions and that these communities are supported in a way which will allow future generations to grow in better conditions.

The United Nations has openly supported the Fair Pay Charter being led by Aliur Rahman and the London Tea Exchange. Last week, he received an OBE for his services to the tea industry but for him, this Charter is where he believes real, life-changing differences can be made.

Sadiq Khan, London’s Mayor, is very supportive of the Charter and wants to see London become the first Fair Pay City in the world. The C40 – a group which represents all the major mayors across the world – are also keen to support. There is a genuine movement beginning to happen.

The Fair Pay Charter is a starting point which will see global collaborations come together to help those living in poverty and poor living conditions.

Tea is the second most consumed drink in the world, after water, and yet we know so little about the industry. Our aim is to promote this Charter to industry, and the great variety of teas which so many of us are unaware of.

On the 21st of November 8:30am until 11am, we will be hosting an event in Central London with some major speakers coming together to support this Charter and as some of the world’s rarest and most premium teas can be experienced.

Hospitality can, simply by acquiring teas, make a huge difference to those living in poverty on the tea estates.

We hope you will join us for this great event, if only to learn more and taste some of the best teas in the world.
