Ten things which raised an eyebrow this weekEP brings you a brief round-up of some of the news items which were perhaps as surprising as they were enlightening - "When driving, please don't attempt any 'sexual interaction'. Police in Surrey issued one of the week's more memorable Tweets after a man in his 50's was pulled over for "having relations" while driving down the A30!
- While flying over the Irish Sea a pilot was forced to issue a mayday call when the rise in temperature on-board, generated by over heated cows was mistaken for a "catastrophic fire" in the hold
- Chosen from a selection of 32 images, a spectacular birds-eye photo of The Canary Islands has been named the winner of the NASA second annual Tournament Earth
- A high school student from China has been accepted to The University of Rochester, NY after the admissions panel were suitably impressed by his application essay extolling the virtues of instant noodles
- In an effort to deal with the ever-increasing levels of smog in Beijing, architectural plans have been drawn up which would see great swaths of the city covered in giant transparent bubbles giving locals safe, temperature-controlled and humidity-controlled "outdoor" space
- Hundreds of municipal staff in Gothenburg are happily being used as guinea pigs in a trial to combat employee sick-leave and improve productivity which sees them enjoying a 6 hour working-day
- It's fair to say that when Severn Trent Water engineers set about to investigate the cause of a sewer blockage in Shropshire, they didn't expect dead Piranhas to be the issue
- Meanwhile, at O' Hare Airport, baggage handlers were equally surprised to find WW1 artillery shells in the luggage of two teenagers returning from a school trip to a France
