Innovatori – where the corporate, the investor and the innovator come together
Innovation is arguably more important than ever. It can help business think differently, create new solutions and services. Bob Cotton, the former CEO of the BHA, used to say that the corporates need the entrepreneurs to challenge and push them and vice versa. Both inspire one another.
It has been interesting to listen to many larger players talk of their need today to innovate once again and how they feel their own companies have not worked hard enough to innovate. It is a fair question to pose internally but many have created processes which do not allow those companies, with less than 5 years of trading, to even have the opportunity to trade with them. The market has never been more difficult for innovators to find the right road; in developing their business plans, in finding investment, in engaging clients.
Historically the relationship between corporate and entrepreneur has been a bedrock to success for both. Can we rekindle the relationship to be stronger and of true value once again?
In truth, the best entrepreneurs will never accept failure. They will adapt, learn and find a way to succeed.
It has always taken great courage to stand apart and to promote a new idea or innovation. There are many who comment from the side-lines in life but very few who are prepared to stand in the light with their own creation and business. That alone is a success. Of course, it is far better to succeed but even having the courage to give a new business a go is worthy of respect. As we often write, failure is often the best road to future success.
In truth, the best entrepreneurs will never accept failure. They will adapt, learn and find a way to succeed. There are so many successful companies whose eventual success is very different to the business first envisaged.
All though need a friend and a supporting hand. EP is ideally positioned to create a bridge between entrepreneurs and those companies wanting to hear new ideas and innovation. Moreover, we possess experts who work with us who are able to bring real value and support to those seeking to find their own path.
However, we like to believe there is an even more important role to play – promoting great new ideas and innovation as this may well inspire others and create a more vibrant discussion. We have often enjoyed hosting events where entrepreneurs present to senior and experienced players. It has, over the years, created new partnerships, wealth and friendships. It is what EP is all about.
So we are back on the road, asking corporates to once again support innovation and entrepreneurs. It does create a healthy relationship which leads to all being stronger and better.
