EP Friday Discussion Forum - What are the challenges in re-engaging people back into city centres?
As we reach this stage in the easing of lockdown, it is natural that we start to discuss the challenges of getting city centres back into action. However, it does seem that many simply do not want to use public transport and there are genuine concerns over safety. Is this correct or are there other factors influencing behaviours?
In a fascinating discussion, it does seem that the issues to be overcome include a mix of regional politics, mixed and poor messaging as well as overcoming the fear of travel.
Some report of good trade taking place in restaurants and that there are green shoots of recovery being seen which is encouraging and yet at the same time, most forecast at least a 12 month period of recovery.
